BUSINESS SPONSORSHIP AND ADVERTISING

We encourage our local business community to become corporate boosters, advertisers, and Rebel Run sponsors. Sponsorship gets your company name in front of the extended Freeman community at athletic events, and all proceeds help to support more than 800 student athletes on 38 teams at the varsity, junior varsity and freshman levels in 15 different sports. New this year is the Scoreboard Sponsorship level for those interested in making a long-term commitment to Freeman Athletics. The Douglas Freeman Athletic Boosters Club is a registered 501(c) 3 organization.   Please consult your tax adviser to determine what part of your sponsorship/donation is tax deductible.

Since the Robert Mallory Freeman Physical Education and Strength Training Center officially opened in spring 2006, many of you have stopped by to see for yourselves just what a remarkable facility we have. Open six days a week from morning to evening and used by girls and boys from all our athletic teams, this $1 million facility was made possible by a cooperative financial effort between Henrico County Public Schools and the Freeman Booster Club, which raised $250,000 in private contributions. Selling brick pavers was just one of the ways the Booster Club generated support for the center. Some teams purchased pavers to honor their coaches, and families have dedicated them to their student athletes. Even Freeman alumni and Rebel fans have purchased pavers, creating a lasting tribute to a fond memory that may reach back five, ten, even twenty years. These 8” x 8” pavers, engraved with names and personal messages, are permanently displayed outside the entrance to the center.

Generating support for the Strength Center is just as important today as it was when the facility opened two years ago. Given the extent to which our students use the center, we need to make sure we have the financial resources to maintain both the equipment and the facility. And realizing the importance of proper lifting techniques and a tailored workout schedule for each athlete, we want to continue providing our students with a professional staff that can provide training during after-school and summer workouts. To provide this expertise, we need to raise funds that we can then use to supplement the salary of a certified expert.

Whether you are a new Freeman parent or have been with the school for a few years, you may not have had the opportunity to purchase a paver when they were first offered by the Booster Club. Now you can. With a tax deductible donation of $500, you and your family can become a permanent part of Douglas Southall Freeman while supporting all the school's athletic teams and the physical education program.
