A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Fellow Parents of Rebel Athletes,
As the parent of two Freeman athletes playing five school sports between them, the Athletic Booster Club seemed like the obvious way for me to support them and get involved. As I have attended football games, wrestling matches, lacrosse games, Booster Club meetings, social events, fundraisers and on and on, I have come to realize that it can be easy to lose sight of WHY I am a part of this organization, and, ultimately, in my mind, why the Booster Club exists.
Coming together as a group of interested parents to support our student athletes and the coaches our kids play for is the main goal of this organization. We always want our team to win but high school athletics teaches our children so much more. The terrific coaches and assistant coaches at Freeman teach our student athletes the importance of working with others towards a common goal, while developing as individuals. Discipline, responsibility, accountability, leadership, caring for others and hard work are all traits acquired in the game and on practice field. Even though our athletes may not realize and appreciate their high school athletic experience from the same perspective as parents, it is an important stepping stone for them into adulthood.
As the Booster Club President, I ask only one thing: participate when and as often as you are able. Whether it is through buying spirit wear, being a Booster Club Rep, purchasing a Booster Club pass, participating in the Rebel Run, helping out a fundraiser or simply attending home athletic events, it all makes a difference. This is how we show our kids and our coaches that we not only stand behind them in support, but are also their most dedicated fans!
Sincerely,
Rick Holtz
2019 - 2020 DSF Booster Club President
